Alter Knights- 2011 Season Preview

Not a better school to start off with than the defending GCL north champions. The Alter Knights. They lost multiple games in a season for the first time since the 2005 season. The state powerhouse that has built a dynasty in the past four years still has some bright paths ahead. The team who for the first time in a few years was challenged to the final whitsle in multiple games. Alter gets back a young QB, Malik Zaire and backs, Joe Penno and Jackson Vandergriff. The Knights will not play a return game with Centerville this year, and instead will play Napoleon along with backyard rival Fairmont and East Tech from Cleveland.

Purcell Marian- 2011 Season Preview

Our final GCL central team is the Purcell Marian Cavaliers. Despite the 1-9 record in 2010, the Cavs had one of the youngest teams aswell as the smallest roster. They will get back E.J. Burnett who rushed for 1013 yards with 8 touchdowns. They will also get back there starting QB, Chris Korthaus, who threw for a small 380 yards and 3 tds, but only on 114 attempts. Purcells non conference opponents are Walnut Hills, Norwood, who they beat last year, and Reading.

Badin Rams- 2011 Season Preview

Going 5-5 last season was good enough for the Badin Rams to get into the playoffs. They defeated Richmond North Union in the first round but lost to Coldwater in round two, and they worked hard to get there. Four of there games were decided by one point, and two games went into overtime. Badin took a big hit in week one last year when the Cincinnati bound QB Patrick Coyne was injured and missed most of the season. But back up senior Jeff Smith really stepped up at the position, he threw for 1429 yards and 12 touchdowns, including the postseason. He rushed for another 980 yards with 13 touchdowns. Badin loses alot on offense but does get back Max Adams who had 4 tocuhdowns and 171 recieving yards. Badin does return there leading sacker Casey Schappacher and there interception leader Luke Wurzelbacher. Badin opens the season with Woodward, then Taft and Edegewood.

McNicholas Rockets- 2011 Season Preview

Today's preview is for the 2010 Region 12 winner, the McNicholas Rockets. The Rockets were one of the surprising teams in the state. Lead by 6'5" quaterback, Matt Staubach who is headed to Cincinnati as a tight end. Staubach threw for only 9 touchdowns while rushing for 22, he also lead the team in rushing with 1196 yards. The Rockets do get back there third leading rusher,Dillion Stanfield. He rushed for 402 yards and 4 touchdowns. Interception leader Max Harmon is also back. After finishing 11-3 with losses to Fenwick, Alter, and Bishop Waterson. The Rockets will open the season at Newport Catholic, New Richmond and Turpin, then off to GCL league play
